The garden is looking fab and the Magnolia has just been awesome this year. It's even been nice enough to paint outside... although did end up retreating back to the cellar after a couple of hours!

We've been a little busy revamping the garden at 6 Harold Place.... so we may not have any paintings ready for you at the end of May but we'll definitely have a nice garden with lots of space for you to park your bums....! Hopefully some of the other painters in the house will have been busy creating... paintings that is rather than seating areas in their gardens!

Just a reminder that the Arts trail will be running from 11 - 19 September and the open houses will be open on the weekends of the 11 & 12 and 18 & 19 September from 10.00 am until 5.00 pm.

September's Arts Trail

So we're going to be back again in September with an even bigger show at 6HP! There will be some of the usual suspects, Paula Dunn, Ian Burdall, Kerry Mosely and Eric Moss as well as another 4 artists who will be revealed very shortly.

I'm sure those of you who keep an eye on what's going on with the Saltaire Arts trail will be aware that September will be a slightly different event and will be focusing on publicising the move to a May slot from next year. This means there are less houses in the trail and those houses that are opening will be packed to the rafters with the "best of" artists from the last three years.

So our plan to reduce our workload this year with the open house - we were hoping to go for a more minimalist approach - has really gone out of the window as we have 8 artists exhibiting this year! Saying that we're pretty excited and I guess one of us is going to have to get a wiggle on and do some painting if she's going to have anything to exhibit this year!

Took a trip up to Penrith today to look at our exhibition there. Really pleased with what the folks at Upfront have done, the work looks great. Although our exhibition finishes on the 25 April it's well worth a visit to Upfront as they always have interesting work on display and the food is just fabulous!

Some changes....

I think we have some big changes over the next couple of years. Firstly we are losing Mark as he embarks on a career in the tattoo business. You can still see his work on his website though: www.markyates.co.uk.

There are also planned changes to the format of the arts trail. Basically the organisers are aiming to split the arts trail from the saltaire festival with the aim of doing this from 2011. So for this year they are asking whether we would consider opening up our house in September 2010, May 2011 or both.

So Nick and myself need to think through whether we want to do this yet and also whether we can afford the time to open up for one event never mind two. If we decide to go ahead we also want to think about whether we want to reduce the amount of work or maybe even the number of artists in our house especially as this will be the 4th year of us all exhibiting together - maybe it's time for a bit of a change?

Upfront Gallery, Penrith

2009 was another successful Arts trail for 6 Harold Place. We were inundated with visitors, both new to the arts trail but also familiar faces who have visited us over the past three years.
Will we open our doors again in 2010....?

Who knows... that decision is still to be made by Paula and Nick, the owners of 6 Harold Place, and of course the Arts trail organisers who have the difficult job of deciding which houses and artists to include in the arts trail.

We'll keep you up-to-date with what we're doing via our blog... In the meantime, check out our individual artist's pages to see where they are exhibiting this year.

Final weekend

Last chance to see 6 Harold Place this weekend. Most of our artists will be around Saltaire if you want to come and have a chat.

Paula and Ian will be around all day on Saturday and Sunday manning the house whilst Nick goes off to watch football... ?!

Eric, Chris and Myles will be popping in on the Sunday - we also think Kerry will be around on Sunday as well.

Mark will have a stall in Victoria Road on Saturday and Sunday and Tim will also be in and around Saltaire most of the weekend as he's heavily involved in the children's trail.

Cat will be hiding under the bed as usual until 5.00 pm when she will be kicking everyone out of the house and demanding a tin of tuna....

Exhibition of Fran Jordan's Work

We are pleased to confirm that a selection of Fran Jordan's work will be exhibited at 6 Harold Place during the Saltaire Arts trail this year.

Fran exhibited with us at 6 Harold Place from the start of the Arts Trail in 2007 and her unexpected death at the end of 2008 came as a shock to us all and left us in a position of having to come to terms with the idea of exhibiting without her in the future.

Opening 6 Harold Place for the 2009 Saltaire Arts Trail will certainly be strange without her but we are really pleased to have her work exhibited at the house again.

We are now in the process of putting together our submission for the 2009 Saltaire Arts Trail.

We are hoping to include an exhibition of Fran Jordan's work, a member of our group who died earlier this year. Fran exhibited with us in 2007 and 2008.

There will also be an addition to our group this year, Myles Linley who is a close friend of ours who we've been wanting to exhibit with us for some time now.
